About the Conference

The objectives for this conference are to:

  1. Understand the health, environmental, economic, and community benefits of trails.
  2. Identify community partners to support trails projects.
  3. Highlight lessons learned from the trail projects in Kentucky and other states.

The co-sponsors of this conference, the Kentucky Rails to Trails Council and the University of Kentucky Prevention Research Center, are especially excited about this year’s theme “Greenway Partnerships: Improving Quality of Life for Kentuckians.” This conference will bring together diverse groups who share a common goal of improving the lives of Kentuckians through physical exercise. Rail trails and greenways provide a means to achieve this important endeavor.

Continuing Education Units

  • Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers and Kentucky League of Cities Public Officials certificate programs — 6 CEU hours.
  • Kentucky State Board of Examiners and Registration of Landscape Architects — tentatively approved for 6 CEU hours.
  • Certified Health Education Specialists and DLG County Elected Officials training — CEUs pending.
